When everyone is posting beach shots and hotel vistas end of summer, Platinum Eye visits this historic building , a place of luxury, Kings, Queens and terror …sumptuous in its day, Hampton Court Palace in Richmond England still evokes all of its majestic glory and is an awe inspiring place to visit. Built in 1515 for Cardinal William Wolsey it was a favorite home of King Henry V111.
Historic plantings, mazes and architectural landscapes outside… and within the Palace, decidedly beautiful interiors – each room evokes a story at every turn. Thoughts of King Henry VIII and his loves, wives and famous divorces, it’s easy to imagine that this was once very much a powerful and beautiful home of the Royal Court .
Tracing the storied history of those that stayed there, and imagining how they lived, loved, dined and danced is fascinating.
When William and Mary took the throne in 1689, Christopher Wren designed a gorgeous Fountain Court with beautiful furnished interiors and art of this new era.
Historic England at its best, this Palace brings two eras together in one . Beautiful and artfully special it is absolutely worth a visit.
