Swiss artist Urs Fischer first began his foray into the creative world by studying photography in Zurich and now is a celebrated and very collectible artist working in varying genres… paintings, sculptures, drawings to note a few. His inspiration and modern take on looking at every day objects brings a very modern spin to what he feels art represents.
He plays a lot with light but says he does not specifically reference photography for that. He loves to work with color and huge scale pieces or alternatively very small prices that stir and inspire the eye of the viewer. Notably some of his exhibits have a focus on architecture and use of space and unexpected materials.
He shows regularly at Gagosian Gallery in New York and also notably recently took over The Brandt Foundation for his latest exhibition.
His play with non traditional materials leave many pondering can art have a sense of humor. His Bread House for example made entirely of baguettes leave many art goers with a smile and a sense of awe regarding the sheer size and construction of the installation. He however commented, “Bread is serious in Switzerland…and is the core of everything, it is not a joke.”
We love this artist’s play with with scale and space. A modern spin for a thought provoking journey through his experiences and his unique eye. A dramatic flourish of beauty and intrigue is the order of the day and collectors are flocking to buy his work.
